This film adaptation of a representative work by Astrid Lindgren, the popular Swedish children's literature author known for "Pippi Longstocking" and the "Lotta" series, is based on a screenplay by the author herself. The film is directed by Lasse Hallström, a master of Swedish cinema. Six children living in the village of noisy houses, where there are only three houses, are always together like siblings. Surrounded by the beautiful nature of Sweden, the land of the white nights, and warm adults, the film vividly depicts the short summer vacation they spend.
